World Heritage Pictures wanted!Friday, 20 July 2012
The Global Protected Areas Programme would like to use the pavilion to highlight the Programme's five major directions:
· Protected areas conserve nature · Protected areas achieve quality · Protected areas respect people · Protected areas build capacity · Protected areas offer solutions
The outside walls of the pavilion will display 5 large photographs (2.3 metres wide by 2.5 metres high), illustrating each of these themes. These banners will also be used in other workshop and conservation campus venues and in the National Park CEOs forum, and when we bring them back to Gland, we hope that they will decorate parts of the IUCN Headquarters. They will carry the IUCN WCPA logo, the CBD logo and the Protected Planet logo
Here is where we would like to rely on your skills and creativity!
Many of you work in or have visited World Heritage sites, of outstanding biodiversity richness and natural beauty, and we know there are some amazing photographers amongst Commission members. This is your opportunity to contribute to the Pavilion in a bold way.
If you have high-quality photographs of world heritage sites (min. 12 MB and 300 dpi, portrait format) that you think would be suitable to illustrate any of the 5 themes, please submit them to pavilion manager Jamie Kemsey (james.kemsey@iucn.org) by no later than next Tuesday, 24 July, noon GMT. We are especially interested in pictures that include people, and that will convey the above messages clearly. As we will have to achieve a balance of geography, biome, gender, and theme, we can't guarantee to use any or all of them, but it would be great to have a pool from which to draw.
